Outpost BBS

A picture of Outpost BBS' ANSI logon screenOutpost BBS is one of my favorite hobbies. I've been running a bulletin board system (BBS) off and on since 1998. This is the latest incarnation of my BBS. Outpost BBS is running ProBoard v2.17 under OS/2 Warp 4.52 on a Dell Dimension 4550.

You can connect to Outpost BBS via telnet using your favorite BBS-friendly telnet client at outpost.slyip.net or via your web browser (you will need Javascript and Adobe Flash Player).

If you just want to look around the BBS and not join yet, use "Guest" without the quotes as your username and password. You will have read-only access to the message bases, download-only access to the file bases, and access to some of the doors. For full access, you'll need to become a member of the BBS.

NOTE: When you fill out the new user questionaire for the BBS, you'll be asked for your real name, mailing address, phone number, and personal email address as well as a few other pieces of information. I ask this because as a guest in my home, I've a right to know who's visiting. If you feel you can't provide this information, please don't waste my time and yours by filling out a fake account—that's what the guest account is for—because I will simply delete any account that I feel has fake information in it.

The BBS offers both QWK and Blue Wave offline mail capability. Outpost BBS is the home of the Micronet Information Network at 618:618/1 and is also a member of Fidonet at 1:18/200. If you're interested in joining Micronet, please visit its webpage for more information.

The BBS also offers several entertaining BBS doors: Legend of the Red Dragon, Legend of the Red Dragon II, Exitilus, Triple Yahtzee, Stack'Em!, Gothik: Better Than Chocolate, Flip The Bits, multinode Scrabble, and other doors. The entire Cheepware door collection is available also.

There's also a good-sized file collection for your enjoyment. I have several shareware CDs that I am going to attempt to get online for your perusal.
