I'm Sean,
of course. I live in Johnson City, Tennessee, and am happily married to
Maura. We're both full-time students at
East Tennessee State University. Maura is persuing her bachelor's
degree in history and I am working on my bachelor's degree in geography with a minor in geology. We have two cats,
Tigger and
Felix, who keep us on our toes.
I am very active in the BBS scene and have been since around 1996. Yes, there still are BBSes—you just have to know where to look for them. A few good places are the Telnet BBS Guide, a well-known and well-maintained BBS list run by a friend and fellow sysop. There is also BBSFinder.com, the world's only "real-time" BBS list. If you like Synchronet BBS systems, check out the updated-nightly Synchronet BBS list.
Some interesting things about me—I'm known as: the sysop (system operator) of Outpost BBS; the author of the Cheepware™ line of freeware BBS doors and sysop utilities; a General-class amateur ("ham") radio operator (my callsign is KD5COL); a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT); a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional; and an honorably discharged US Army veteran. I'm a member of the American Legion.
I have a lot of hobbies that I enjoy besides computers and electronics. I like to cook and bake, listen to music, woodburning (pyrography), gardening, working on my vehicles ("shadetree mechanics"), spending time with my family and friends, watching TV, taking roadtrips, reading . . . and the one thing that I seem to never get enough of anymore: sleep!
